Learn About Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic illness that affects more than 18 million Americans of all ages, including over 1 million people in California. Approximately one-third of these people are unaware that they have diabetes. Many are not diagnosed until they begin to have complications of diabetes. The Diabetes Society serves approximately 11,000 annually with most of those residing in Santa Clara County. Diabetes cannot be cured but it can be controlled. The Diabetes Society has many programs to assist people with diabetes and their families. Education is the key to controlling diabetes.
